Creating and using deep links

How to request, implement, and troubleshoot deep links for institutional access

We provide the option to link to any page on our site via deep link. This can be used to link to record sets, newspapers titles, or search pages.

To request a deep link, contact our support team at support@thesocialhistoryarchive.com

Troubleshooting

SSO authentication

A misconfigured deep link could produce two outcomes when accessed via SSO authentication:

  1. The user could land on an error page before they are asked to authenticate via your institution.  In this case the users would arrive at https://www.thesocialhistoryarchive.com/error/federator
  2.  A 404 Not Found error page, after users authenticate with your institution.  This can occur when the deep link is itself erroneous.

IP authentication

A misconfigured deep link will result in the user landing on a 404 Not Found error page when accessed using IP Authentication.

If you are experiencing issues with deep linking, please contact our support team (support@thesocialhistoryarchive.com) providing the following:

  • The web address of problematic deep link
  • A screen shot of the result
