Authenticating via Single Sign-On (SSO)
Institutional Access via OpenAthens, eduGAIN, and Shibboleth
Setup

The Social History Archive is a registered provider with both the UK Access Management Federation & OpenAthens, and we provide our SSO via Shibboleth.

If your organisation is already part of eduGAIN or OpenAthens then you can authenticate with your institution and view our free records without requiring any further setup.

Visit The Social History Archive and search for your institution from the available list to try this.
Troubleshooting
If you cannot find your institution in the list, first verify it is registered with one of these federations:
- OpenAthens: check their OpenAthens institutions list.
- eduGAIN: Search eduGAIN by country to find out which local organisation your institution is part of, e.g. InCommon in the US or the UK Federation in UK.
Your IT team may need to add The Social History Archive as a Service Provider on your institution's’OpenAthens portal.
