Can I submit a request for historical newspapers and records to be added to the archive?

The Social History Archive is constantly growing. Resources are added to the archive regularly, with the aim of supporting historians across institutions and disciplines. On average, we add around 1 million newspaper pages and 8 record sets each month, and are working to refine our workflows to push that number even higher.
We regularly receive requests from current or prospective customers to add specific resources to the archive. While we welcome – and genuinely appreciate – requests for content, we serve a vast number of communities, each with distinct research interests. Additionally, digitisation generally requires careful discussion with publishers, archives, and libraries, and the speed at which we can digitise historical newspapers and records can be highly dependent on the physical format of the original document.
For the reasons specified above, it is not always possible to reprioritise or expedite the scanning of particular titles, nor is it generally possible to provide exact time frames for when you can expect to see these titles added. Where this is the case, we will endeavour to communicate our reasoning as openly as we can. We encourage customers to continue to submit requests for historical newspapers and records and will carefully consider these as a team, but we regret that we will not be able to fulfil every request.
